Newborn Portraits
Capturing your newborn portraits is such a precious honor. Please plan for 3 hours so we can move at baby’s speed and comfort. Around the one week old mark to 10 days is the best age for photos at this stage. After this period they may not sleep as well as you would like, as they start to notice the world around them.
Newborn babies have their own timetable, and wonderful pictures can be captured at any age.
The Process: I like to start the session capturing whole family and sibling images. Then, I ask for Dad to take siblings for a fun outing (maybe go grab ice cream?), while I finish our time with just Mom and Baby to get newborn-only portraits. I enjoy following your baby’s lead and capturing him or her as she is most comfortable. If they are wide awake and curious, I will roll with that. It provides the chance to capture some different baby portraits. And if your baby sleeps, then we can do posing that suits sleeping. Regardless, your images will be gorgeous and treasured for generations to come.
